Tomorrow's Show As many of you have surmised, John, in particular, sees Gavin Newsom as the eventual choice of the Democrats for 2024 if they want to have any chance against the Republicans. Here is a good article on the subject. Also here. If Newsom is shoved to the side, which is likely, by the farts who run the party, it will put him in good position for 2028 or 2032. In 2032 he’ll be 64 years old. |

Independence Day History.
The Holiday itself was supposed to be on July 2 when the legal separation of the Thirteen Colonies actually took place. A great quote from John Adams in a letter to his wife, was interesting: “The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival." Ooops! Guess not.
So TODAY the true Independence day. The show straddles the two dates tomorrow. |

Nowadays there is debate over why the dates were changed. Because everything (on the Declaration of Independence) was dated July 4th, thus July 4th became the day although real Independence Day was July 2. And to further complicate things there is no real evidence that everyone signed on July 4th. It is largely believed that many signed after the 4th when it may have been more convenient.
So our founding document became the model for back-dating agreements. A dubious practiced often used to scam shareholders in large corporations regarding stock options. There is precedent!
The July 4th holiday, per se, began officially in 1870. It was only turned into a paid federal holiday in 1938 in the middle of the Great Depression. So, it’s only been a major event, like today, since the depression, while people think it goes way back. It is one of two holidays that traditionally use fireworks to celebrate, New Years being the other. And you can be sure more research will reveal the fireworks is something recent too.
