The Coffee Couple

I'm sitting in a Starbucks getting some work done, along with a number of students and to my surprise, and elderly couple that set up shop for a Friday Evening of coffee and computing.
We truly do live in a technology age and I quite like it. Witnessing first hand, a couple setting up their laptops across from each other while sipping on their coffee, on a Friday night no less.. pretty amazing.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Producers,

With only two executive producers of any sort last Sunday, the producers have to step upas we head to the show 600 and the March doldrums. Please go to the support page as soon as you can and contribute to tomorrow’s show. So far this week, it looks grim.

Grim? What happens to me?

The Thursday show is promising to be phenomenal because the news is getting more interesting by the day. Too bad the mainstream corporate media is not digging deeper, there is gold there. But they get their gold in other ways, right? Advertising.

Advertising. Mmmmmm. I love it.
 Screw No Agenda!
A few items of interest tomorrow include some tech news coming out of Barcelona; and what’s the real deal with Netflix and Comcast and you?

Meanwhile, action in Ukraine continues as its President flees to Crimea. Your No Agenda Show was the first to tell you that the little Republic of Crimea will be the centerpiece of some International action.

Ever heard of the Crimean War?
John has a weird tidbit from the Economic Hitman. Chuck Hegel wants to shrink the Armed Forces? Or does he really? The Egyptian cabinet walks out and quits. Why?

The early Red Book prediction that Piers Morgan would not be a keeper on CNN has come to fruition, but is it too late for the network?

One of the great things about your No Agenda Show are the resources the show does for you. This means show notes. This is a collection of the documents used to deconstruct stories. There is nothing on the web that comes close.

Instead of random people prattling on expressing what they think is going on based on what others tell them is going on, your No Agenda Show has the goods. Actually, the documents, pdf files, links to sources, videos and more. This is all found here.

A lot of high school and college students use the No Agenda archives to develop essays and papers using this data. It’s very difficult to argue against popular opinion that has been molded by mass media nonsense and government lies propagated by radio and TV. Unless, that is, you have the proof. We provide that free-of-charge as part of your No Agenda Show.

Please continue to support these important efforts by contributing today.

Your co-hosts,
John C. Dvorak & Adam Curry
PS If you cannot become an executive producer, you still get Knighthood credits for a subscription.Click here for the popular $33.33 a month subscription to your No Agenda Show.

Chrome Help-F1 [TIP]

If you are an everyday user of the internet, surfing various websites for information as a typical user. A person that would consider themselves NOT technically apt but capable of using what tools they have in front of them, then you most likely should pay attention to this simple tip.

F1 is your best friend on the computer!  No matter where you are, when you get stuck, try the F1 key first. I have blogged about this a few times in the past, with one that even included a small rant.

The main reason for this post is to make you aware of the abilities the Chrome web browser has and just how you can customize it to your liking and realizing its huge potential over numerous devices. Your first stop should be to the Chrome Help page where you can go to a specific topic and read up on it, in hopes that it makes you a little bit wiser to this browser's capabilities.

A few very basic things that I see happen to those using Chrome are the default home page and/or start page gets hijacked by something like the ASK web toolbar (for example).  Along with this, you may also find new icons on your system tray (lower right corner of your computer), like SPEEDY PC or other malicious items that you know where there the last time you used your computer.  These likely got installed by the accidental click on some banner ad within a website you visited or a pop up ad that you THOUGHT you clicked on the X to close it but that X was actually the permission it required to install.  Chrome is very good when it comes to monitoring and securing your browsing but it isn't perfect no matter how advanced and up to date it tries to stay, there are always going to be the malicious script that sneaks through until a new Chrome Build is released.  This is also where you may find some useful EXTENSIONS that you can use within the browser itself, although I do caution on many as they will only slow down your web surfing experience and may also cause you many false positives and/or blocking of legitimate websites. I therefore do not use any 'ad-blocking' or 'pop up blocker' extensions personally. I keep the extensions I use to more useful tools like 'read it later/instapaper' and 'checker plus for gmail', or the Google calendar checker extension.   Of course you know where to look for these extensions, now that you have read the Chrome Help page..

The main thing when using any web browser is knowing the basic tools which would include things like the Home button, Refresh and New Tabs as well as knowing how to create a shortcut/bookmark as well as MANAGING BOOKMARKS.   One other area where I find many client browsers all messed up with numerous bookmarks that are now dead and/or placed in sub folders of other folders, knowing they have no idea they even did this. Therefore getting familiar with the management of your bookmarks is most likely key.

As always, with this or any other issues you may have, you can always contact me directly and I can help clear things up for you.

No Agenda-The 600 Club

Dear Producers,

Show 600 is approaching and we’re looking for more 600 Club Special Producers. You get two producers credits and you’ll become very important to the success of the upcoming episode. Click here and contributed to your No Agenda Showtoday.

There are plenty of things to talk about on the Sunday Show and encourage you to listen to the most important news analysis show done by anyone. Ukraine is now at the forefront, but so too Mexico with the curious capture of the head of the Sinaloa cartel Joaquin Guzman. Since the Sinaloa cartel was believed to be in bed with the US Justice Department, you can be sure that your No Agenda Show will have some new angles to consider.

There will be more about Putin, Obama and the EU of course, but we have to be looking for a six week cycle event. Again these are things you will hear discussed no place else. Because commercial interests do not allow such discussions to take place. It is just that simple. And that is why you support the show. You also support the show for the deep knowledge and insight you gain from our analysis. Please continue to do so with a contribution of whatever you can afford, no amount is too small byclicking here.

Thank you for your support.
Your co-host,

John C. Dvorak

Dear Producer,
When the story broke that certain meaty Hot Pockets products were filled withdiseased and unsound meat from some large meat factory called the Rancho Feeding Corporation, it was the symbolic time to make the comparison between large carelesscorporate meat packing operations, large arrogant corporate food processing operations and large corrupt corporate media corporations. They all feed you diseased and unhealthy products.

You should probably be surprised that the corporate mainstream media even covers this sort of story since it is not in their best interests to remind the public that they are under attack from every side.

Kill All Humans!

This is exactly why your No Agenda Show is more important to you than ever. It is your healthy solution to understanding the news and the current events around you that will affect your life in unknown ways. It is so important that you continue to supportthe show with your kind and generous contributions. Click here.

When you hear about the Hot Pockets tainted Philly Cheesesteak recall, have you ever wondered about the food scandals that always seem to stem from trying to cheat the public by disregarding standards, careless processing or a lazy disregard for cleanliness? Have you ever noticed that a company can recall sometimes millions of pounds of meat without blinking an eye? How can anyone afford this? They breeze right through it. Sometimes more than once. Are they gouging you so much in the first place that these companies can afford this?

Think about how that works by comparing it to what the phone companies were doing to the US Public in the 1990’s by “slamming” the public and subscribing you to long distance services you never ordered. By the time they were busted and fined they had made millions. The government oversight did nothing as every $100 in fines resulted in better sales. It was actually profitable to continue the practice while paying the fines.

This is the way the world works now. The public (you) be damned. And this is why yourNo Agenda Show is more important to you and your like-minded friends than ever before. Please keep this show alive with continued contributions. Contribute whatever you can afford or choose an option from the support page here.

Stop eating the diseased news fed to you by corporate media and support No Agenda.

John C. Dvorak & Adam Curry

Time for a new Cell phone?

When it is time to buy a new cell phone, a question I get quite often is whether or not sticking with the same company is smart and/or upgrading to a new plan is best.  This recent post from theverge.com breaks it down pretty well, even though this is based on American plans, you can use this analysis for most Canadian plans as the carriers continue to change the way you can purchase phones and plans.

Since you can always buy an 'unlocked' phone and choose to go month to month, some will say that you will end up paying more than if you were to go with purchasing a phone and plan together, subsidizing it over the contract plan. The biggest thing to remember if you do decide to go with a long-term contract (1, 2 or 3 years) is you are going to be paying to break it and 2 to 3 years is a long time to be with a company that you all of a sudden start to have issues with. Therefore if you do decide to go with the contract/subsidized phone plan, I would suggest nothing more than 1 year.

Got more questions? Feel free to ask me. I am always here to help!

No Agenda, The Pre-Show

Dear Producers,

You can count on your No Agenda Show to deliver actual news tomorrow. This is despite everyone in the mainstream media being gah-gah over the Olympics despite the US State Department’s best efforts to belittle the event because it is in Russia. That didn’t work and all you sports fans can get your fill of exciting moments in the various sports such as women’s curling, ice jumping, ski flipping, snowboard stunts, ice pole dancing, snow trampoline and hockey. It’s riveting.

The ice crab race

That said the show does need some Sunday support and I personally want to remind you to visit the support page here, or you can contribute any amount directly here. Please do so.

One of the interesting news items this week was the harsh rejection of the UAW Union by the workers at the VW plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The giant union, of which I was twice a member, wants to unionize the so-called transplant companies who build “imported” cars here in the USA. It may mark the symbolic end of major labor unions in the USA as they may have simply out-lived their usefulness. As a person involved in Unions most of my life, you will want to hear my thoughts about this.

Ok, now just stand still.

Celebrity news is big this week (and every week) as Ellen Page, in a blatant effort to get more Twitter followers came out of the closet as gay. (Does anyone come out of the closet as straight? Or ambivalent? Why not?) This revelation was all over the news because it is so important to everyone, especially Page who needs more followers. Your No Agenda Show will have none of this nonsense. Follow @adamcurry and @therealdvorak instead.

Guess what? I'm GAY!!
 Follow me!

In more important news, apparently the big Beluga whales have been infected by Toxoplasma Gondii, the weird cat parasite that makes people actually like cats. This has been blamed on Global warming, of course. I blame it on cats. This is an omen that says “Support No Agenda” in the morning.

You will OBEY!

Make sure to catch the Sunday show and contribute today.

Your co-host,

John C. Dvorak

Dear Producers,
Reminder, No Agenda reaches show 600 in a very few weeks and supporters can get two producer credits for any $600 contribution. This credit includes the stand-alone title, “Special Producer.” Click here to take part. We welcome any contribution for anyamount here. If you have never contributed to the show, please do so today. Please.

In the weeks ahead your No Agenda Show will be looking closely at the Heroin problem, where is the future of poppy growing in the world going to move, the health of Bill Clinton and will Hillary be able to get by without him, global cooling and the lies in the mainstream media.

Similar if not identical growing conditions of Afghanistan and Myanmar
found in Africa. Note Central African Republic (CAR) right in the middle.

On the Thursday show look for a discussion of the new $250 million Scahill-Greenwald-Poitras website/blog that has gone live with a very questionable article and a lame photo essay.

Another High Budget Flop

If you’ve been reading recent news items you’ll find eye-rollers.  The one that will get your attention is the "discovery" that crocodiles can climb trees. You have to wonder how long the civilized world has been observing this creature without noticing this fact. After thousands of years of observations, someone finally notices? This sort of thing seriously makes you wonder when someone says “the science is in” or “scientists agree.”

And when it comes to the news media, its story usually changes from minute to minute as these people jump to conclusions, make illogical comments and often talk incessantly about nothing to fill time.

And the one thing missing the most is serious deep analysis. This is what your No Agenda Show does best. Many of the facts we uncover using both government and non-government sources present conclusions that make sense and are seldom if ever accomplished by well funding over staffed corporate media outlets.

Our budget is provided by you, the producer/supporter. Please continue to help your Show by contributing today. Click here.
