Windows 10 is coming-you can be one of the first!

Microsoft has started rolling out "invitations" to be one of the first to get Windows 10 automatically... and yes, this is a good thing!  If you have Windows 7 or 8 (8.1) then you will most likely get this prompt in the system tray (see below)
(lower right hand corner of your computer screen where the clock and other icons are displayed)

All you have to do is click on this so that it opens in the box you see at the top of this page, then enter your email address.. What will happen is the actual windows 10 install files will automatically be downloaded to your computer and when the update is ready to be installed you will get an email confirming this.  Note: you DO NOT need to select the check-box as this will only send you useless windows propaganda from Microsoft.

If you do not wish to be notified then you can click on SKIP EMAIL CONFIRMATION.. this will however, not stop the automatic download of windows 10. That can only be done by turning off your automatic windows updates (not recommended) which is something I would never suggest unless I personally did suggest!  By this I mean if I am already looking after the maintenance of your computer I will be more than likely aware of the update and will be rolling it out accordingly...

I will of course ask you before I install it but if I am questioned on whether or not you should go for it, my answer will be a solid YES-ABSOLUTELY!  Windows 10 is a much refined version of Windows 8-8.1 and by that I mean all the major bugs worked out of it.   On an older (Windows 7) machine, you are giving your computer another few years of life as they will stop providing for the eldest operating system currently being supported by Microsoft.

If you have Windows XP or Vista (then what the heck are you still doing on the internet?) No but seriously, if you have Windows XP or Vista then you should only be using CHROME as your browser. Tom's Guide spells it out perfectly here.  In order for an XP or Vista machine to be entitled to the 'automatic update' to Windows 10, you would first have to install windows 7 or 8 on it.. Contact me to see if it is worth doing... it might be, especially if your computer's processor and hardware is not that bad.  For example, if you have a dual-core CPU with 4GB of RAM then yes, it can most certainly handle it.. even if it had 2GB of ram but at that point I wouldn't be recommending it--since you can go out and buy a brand new computer which will come with Windows 10 (or windows 8 which can then be upgraded automatically) for under $400.

One last thing, regardless of what you do next, that icon will remain there so get used to it!

    No Agenda-The Saturday Memo

    Note from John C. Dvorak

    Stop the summer doldrums II

    Dear Producers,

As of this writing there is exactly one show supporter who has come in at an associate executive producer level and zero executive producers. This lack of support at this level is reflected all the way down to a guy who contributes a buck a month. It’s as if this is a holiday weekend.

While this can be explained as part of the summer slowdown, which is worse than last year by far. Please do not let tomorrow’s show become a depressing dud and contribute whatever amount you can by clicking here.
The show has college and high school students coming in with contributions. What prevents the rest of you from helping?
From producer Jennifer O’Mally in Minnesota:
“We are a proud No Agenda family now. Listening gives my husband and I great topics to further discuss and analyze amongst ourselves and with our friends I do not want to lose the show, ever! Our two little girls sing along with all the jingles like they are Taylor Swift songs.”
This is what the show is about. Community. And your support is what makes it all happen. If you have never contributed, now is the time. If you have not contributed in a while. Now is the time. Go to the support page here and look for some good ideas. Or just contribute any amount by clicking here.

We have another great show lined up for tomorrow. Help us.
    Your co-host,

PS We want to thank those of you who decided to set up payment plansvia online banking or who just like to send checks. Remember it is No Agenda Show, Box 339 El Cerrito, CA 94530

    Special Request
The only way you can get over 300 hours of valuable No Agenda analysis each year is with your personal support. What is 300 hours of entertaining insight and key analysis worth to you? A penny an hour? A dime an hour? A dollar an hour? More?  Vote your answer with a special “What is it worth" donation by clicking here. Tell us what it is worth to you. What do you think and what do you like..

Corruption leads to the Usual Suspects

      No Agenda Thursday Show

      Lots of Humor Tomorrow

      Dear Producers,

For some reason the Thursday show is getting less support than the Sunday show and this week looks the same. More work goes into the Thursday show because there is an extra day to work on it.

Please support tomorrow’s show with any sort of contribution you can by clicking here. You will get another great show.
On tomorrow’s show everyone will get a big laugh out of the corruption probe involving FIFA officials for taking bribes including some within the USA according to the new attorney General, Loretta Lynch. Although the USA is not a country that adores soccer, it knows a good bribery case when it sees one.

You can be sure that one target of all this is Russia once again. This harassment will continue until Snowden leaves Russia. It’s that simple. Or is it?
      ALL ROADS LEAD TO CLINTON
Interesting comment from a reader of this article on the FIFA scandal. "The cost of the two-year project is not listed on the Clinton Foundation website, but the Qatar 2022 committee gave the foundation between $250,000 and $500,000 in 2014 and the State of Qatar gave between $1 million and $5 million in previous, unspecified years."
This news will evolve into a distraction leading up to the six-week cycle event coming in a week based on the No Agenda cycle.  And the FIFA scandal will provide another example of the premise that professional athletics are corrupt on many levels.

Aside: On the last No Agenda, the show Frontline was praised for a hard hitting investigation of the CIA torture business. In that same show Adam read from the recently released DIA document discussing the creation of the Islamic State with USA help. Well, the next episode of Frontline creates a beautiful smokescreen for those revelations. All the phony memes are re-introduced. Who are these people serving?

Fight obfuscation by supporting No Agenda, your guardian of reality. A place where things actually make sense. There is logic and understanding. Contribute any amount byclicking here. Everything helps. Everything counts.
      Your loyal co-hosts,
John C. Dvorak & Adam Curry
PS  And you can always send checks to Box 339, El Cerrito, CA 94530. Make checks payable to the No Agenda Show.
If you want real analysis based on research and digging deeper into a story, No Agenda is your show. To keep it alive please support No Agendaany way you can. There are excellent ideas on the support page here.

      17" Laptops on the rise?

I was recently visiting the local Costco store, where it is always a good place to buy a computer--they offer a 2 year warranty--not that you should be buying a computer based on it breaking down, but it is a nice incentive. I would never suggest purchasing an extended warranty when asked by those other computer retailers--not worth it!

To much surprise there were three different brands of 17" laptops available to choose from. Noting Apple stopped production of their 17" MacBook Pro a few years ago, it would seem they were on to something. But then again that was back when the small netbook was making a run at the market. Now it seems those that are replacing their old desktop models are looking for a desktop replacement laptop and the 17" model has always been a good choice.  Since you probably aren't planning on flying anywhere with it, the 6 pounds + weight is not going to be a factor, nor will the more limited battery life. Although you should probably see over 4 hours on most of these now--that's plenty of time to get through a movie (or two).

With Windows 10 right around the corner (expect to see it mid-August?) whatever you choose to purchase now, it will be Windows 10 ready, for the free upgrade so no worries!

        No Agenda-The Saturday Memo

        Note from John C. Dvorak

        Stop the summer doldrums

        Dear Producers,

The support for the show is again slow this summer and those of you who have not contributed for a while are encouraged to please contribute for the Sunday Show.

One good idea is a simple $24 to commemorate show 724 on 5-24. Hooray for $24. Every supporter, producer, and casual No Agenda Listener can afford $24. Those of you who have never contributed consider now as a time to begin.

$24 was once a yearly subscription, but because PayPal cancels your accounts each time you change credit cards, there is only one person left on that program. If you are nostalgic for the old No Agenda the subscription is still available here.

For most of you please consider donating any amount you feel like by clicking here.

In today’s newsletter you might enjoy some of the photos pulled down from Twitter which have No Agenda written all over them. Enjoy!
I saw this online pic of Ed Snowden and do not believe that this is the original text. Unfortunately all the other versions looked more fake. There is probably one that says "Hi Mom!" that is real.
New 10,000 room capacity hotel in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Lots of ancient sites bulldozed to make room for this and other outrageous monuments to wealth.
The epitome of the British upper crust incarnate. Jolly good.
The creepy side of the British upper crust.
Photoshop rocks. At least I think this is photoshopped.
If you are going to use a selfie stick, this may be a good time. On top of a Malaysian skyscraper.
