People should revisit the movie, Serpico. It’s about a cop who takes a police job to honestly serve the public. He is introduced to the real job of graft and how to benefit from it. Many people in Congress, with no investment skills, have net worth of $10-400 million plus from a base salary of $174,000 a year living in a very expensive area and usually having to maintain a second residence back home. The obvious fact is that Congress is not in the game to improve the country but to add wealth to the family trust through stock trading, campaign financing and just graft. To try and combat this Congress has various “ethics” committees that seem to be there only to police the outliers who take things too far and make things too obvious. Trump was part of this system when he was a big shot Democrat in NY greasing the wheels with donations to boss/capo Schumer and the rest of the system. Committing the ultimate sin of leaving the mob and becoming a snitch for the other side was inexcusable and a blood libel resulting in what we call TDS (Trump derangement syndrome) but is an actual mob vendetta. The unexpected problem, that nobody initially saw, is that the Republicans were not a safe space but another gang in cahoots with the Democrats and just part of a system of territories just like the mafia families. Red States/Blue States. People who stay in line get to “earn” and become multi-millionaires. Those who stray get “primaried” and eliminated that way. In extreme cases they get eliminated in “unfortunate” accidents like Sen. Ted Stevens had. The irony is the public would let a lot of this slide if they did a decent job and did not steal directly from the taxpayer using USAID and other money laundering scams to soak the taxpayer directly. Or allow Somalis and immigrants to get free housing and heath care and endless welfare. The public notices all this despite a similarly corrupt media that refuses to focus on base corruption.
