I was here in Texas during Hurricane Katrina and now I'm here witnessing Ike. It always amazes me how people can be so stupid, taking chances with their lives by deciding to stay in their homes, especially after going through all the previous hurricanes. As I am currently in the interior, just over an hour from Houston, in College Station where the winds are now starting to pick up as the eye is about 20 miles from Houston. We still have power but for how long it is quite uncertain. Switching between the Weather Channel and CNN as well as stepping outside periodically to watch as the wind and rain continues to pick up, I am glad this is as close as I need to get to such a disastrous event.
