I stumbled across something that you might be interested in checking
out. It supports the idea that there are plans to build Haiti,
revealing plans to build up the Haitian island of La Ganove, just a
few miles from the epicenter of the earthquake. They began to develop
these plans ten years ago and have been trying to buy La Ganove for
three years.
First, I found this article:

"The developer, Global Renewable Energy, claims to be focused on
"alternative energy projects," and has already pitched the plan to
"buy" the island of La Gonave to the Haitian government, yet a public
disclosure of the status of any agreements is unknown outside of the
principles involved."
The article has a video from Global Renewable Energy, explaining their
plans for La Ganove:

- • First and most important: the ICRC cares about Human Rights, not relief. That's the biggest misconception people have. You can read their mission statement here: www.icrc.org—125ffe2d4c7f68acc1256ae300394f6e
• The ICRC is not a relief organization. Nor a charity
• The ICRC doesn't provide medical support of any kind. They might help channeling resources when another organization (like a local branch of the Red Cross) provides them
• The ICRC is a bunch of diplomats, not a lot of nurses and doctors
• Back in the day when I participated in the MNU they biggest concern was trying to get an international ban of anti-personnel mines. They were *so* into the subject that this guy showed us a couple different models he had lying around in his office, explaining the kind of damage they could inflict. That's how prepared they were to drive *that* point home
• The guy dismissed the local branches of the Red Cross. I can't remember the exact wording, but he basically told us they didn't have anything to do with the "Real" Red Cross, and he thought their activities were kind of stupid. It appears the ICRC's position on that is "let nations take care of their own health, we have bigger fish to fry"
• He gave us a couple of books (Annals) of the ICRC. I read them just to make sure I understood what these guys were doing. The books mostly dealt with refugees, the interaction between the ICRC and the UNHRC (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), the different proposed bans on WMDs and anti-personnel mines
• He recommended us that, if we really wanted to represent the ICRC, we should try to get nations to make Human Rights (and everything related to the Geneva Convention) into law, and to get funds for the list of programs they were running
