Turn on the Guest Account when someone wants to use your computer [TIP]

How many times do you find yourself allowing others to use your computer "just for a few minutes to check their email" or "do a quick search"?

How many times do you have cousins, nieces, nephews or grandkids coming over to visit, all wanting to use your computer?

This is a pretty common occurrence but unfortunately when they leave it seems like they leave a lot of mess behind on your computer. Not to mention settings  have been changed and now you are having strange pop ups that you never had before.

Since the Vista operating system, Microsoft has included the 'guest account' which you can find quick access to by simply pressing the start menu and start typing 'guest' and one of the first search results will be the guest account.  Alternatively using the search term "user accounts" will also get you to where you want to go, which is the control panel USER ACCOUNTS.  Click on this and choose to turn on the guest account.

By turning the guest account on, then restarting your computer, you will now see a new account beside your normal sign in.  Allowing others to use this Guest account means they will have internet access but they will NOT have administrative privileges which means in order to make serious changes to your computer, they will be prompted for the administration password or quite simply they will NOT be able to install it from that account.. as well, when they have all gone home, you can go back in to the USER ACCOUNTS and simply turn it off.  Restart your computer and you are back to where you wanted to be before they ever showed up.. a computer that was working!

Also, if you haven't already installed the BACKBLAZE off-site backup then you really should since this will have all of your data backed up off-site so that you can always recover it, regardless of the condition of your computer. This means even if your system was completely unrecoverable and you had to go out and buy a new computer, once you have that new computer online, you can simply restore your data from your account and all of your precious pictures and documents are back! Simply click on the Backblaze logo below or this link to get started.. you get 2 free weeks trial so you really have nothing to lose. You do however have EVERYTHING to lose without this installed!
