You know it is time for a computer upgrade when...
...when you go to plug in the SD Memory card only to find you still have a floppy drive. Yes, believe it or not the floppy drive still exists on many computer cases to this day, even though it has pretty much been extinct for years. True, you can still update your computer software and leave some of the older hardware still intact, but the best thing you could is think about a new box! Now that Windows 7 is the operating system of choice (which means it will be the one you are going to be using when you buy the new box), you shouldn't find much learning is required if you have ever used a windows machine. Unfortunately however, I am learning through various clients that have treated themselves to new boxes for the holidays, that it shipped with Windows Vista (64bit version) and in all cases, they were unaware of the Windows 7 Upgrade which should be free from the computer manufacturer, however it means ordering the disk and typically waiting a month or more for it to arrive. Then when it does arrive, you have to go through what some are saying is painfully long upgrade procedures. True, if you have a lot of programs on your computer, especially older ones, it may take a few hours to get everything done but it should work seamlessly. Ideally you are going to be doing this upgrade BEFORE you get too many new programs installed so it shouldn't be a major operation. All I am saying is if you haven't thought about upgrading your computer system because you haven't had any major issues, but you are still using windows XP and yes, you still have a floppy drive installed... now is the time to buy yourself a new computer. Windows 7 is wonderful. In my opinion, the best o/s Microsoft has ever made to this date. So what are you waiting for? Make it one of your New Years resolutions! After all, for the amount of time you use your computer, odds are that is only increasing, why not start the new year with a new computer!
