I have been using Google products pretty much since the inception of Google and this includes gmail, picasa and drive as well as the latest google+. Today I received notice that my storage renewal is approaching and that because I am part of their legacy pricing I am entitled to leave things as is, which according to the new pricing structure is almost half price. But reading the fine print, I am only entitled to this so long as I 'don't change my plan size'.. I am currently on the 80gb ($20/year) plan.

From the way I see things, Google has pretty much doubled the prices when storage on the cloud seems to be dropping.. whats with this Google? Are you really trying to lose at the cloud storage game?
With places like DropBox and Box who have offerings of 50GB free, I'm pretty sure if/when I break the 80gb mark I'm going to be moving unless this changes because in my math, $4.99 per month is $60/year for 100gb whereas I am currently paying only $20 for 80gb
UPDATE:
As my plan is now coming due, I received further information on what do to, or in my case, what not to do as I will remain on the legacy plan but for all those wondering what's what, I hope this helps explain things a little more.

How to keep your old plan
Google storage plans have changed, but you can stay on your legacy plan as long as you:
- Keep your account active
- Keep payment information in Google Wallet accurate and up-to-date
- Don’t make adjustments to your current plan
If your account lapses, your credit card is declined, or you choose to change your storage plan in any way (upgrade or downgrade), you’ll be asked to choose from among the new Google plans. Once you choose a new plan, you'll no longer be able to switch back to the old one.
