Sometimes its as simple as a reboot!

I am a firm believer in leaving your computer powered on. I have provided numerous reasons for this over the years and it is safe to say with today's computing technology it is very simple to set up your computer power management to stay powered up in a 'low powered state'.  The main reason for staying powered on is so that your computer can manage the many tasks that will keep you satisfied with your computer when you go to use it. The main one being 'speed' and for that reason alone you should be allowing your computer's power to be ON and not OFF. If you aren't sure what the status is just contact me and I can help by remotely connecting and making sure all of the security patches are up to date and your power management is set correctly.

The main reason for this posting was to stress how important it is to perform a reboot of your computer every once in a while, if not daily and this is quite simply, to make sure all of the updates that have been installed or those that may be waiting to complete the install after the system has restarted. With Windows 8 machines for example, any automatic update that requires a restart will not actually happen for 2 days if the computer is not manually restarted before then.

Many people that allow their kids or grandkids to use their computer may find their system working strange after 'the kid has been on it' however in some cases this may be days later and that is only because the system was never restarted. Some malicious software will not be installed until the system is restarted and will be installed upon restart so this alone should be one more reason to perform a reboot if you notice things are acting strange, sluggish or you simply know it has been some time since the last reboot.
This goes for your phones too!  I mentioned this quite some time ago in a previous post, now that 'smartphones' are everywhere. If you first find your technical gadget (computers included) is acting strange, restart and see if that solves anything. If you still have problems, by now I hope you know who to contact!
