You can do a quick search and get many websites that will provide you with tips & tricks but some are going to be either more advanced then what you want to explore or deal with issues you have no interest in learning. This is why I like to poke around on my own.. realize you always have the F1 key.. F1 has always been HELP so no matter where you are, pressing the F1 key will bring up help based on that area. The other basic tool is the RIGHT CLICK of the mouse. Note this feature does different things when you click on different areas of one simple window, including the desktop itself. Try the RIGHT CLICK on the start menu--that is probably a very good starting place as you will find a shortcut to restart/power down, control panel, etc.
