TV Alternatives when you have Internet

It's that time of year when every dollar you spend on utilities is questioned-when you have those in your family expecting some sort of gifts.. just where is the money coming from?

The simple truth is, if you look at the utilities you are paying monthly which include such things like Cable TV, Your phone (landline and cellular if you have both and if not, just your cellular) you are likely paying 3 digits per month.. that means over $100 for these sorts of things..

No problem if you are getting your money's worth but are you ? How do you know? Well hopefully that is where someone like myself can come in to help steer you in the right direction and give you some alternatives.

With regards to the internet, depending on where you live, you are likely going to have competition between the broadband (cable) distributor and the phone company (ADSL). The main thing here is to never sign up for a long term contract. Nothing more than 1 year if any at all. It doesn't matter if the incentives are a new TV or Laptop (a value of about $300) but you have to sign up for a 3 year contract. That $300 value is about what they will get from you over those 3 years because you are locked in so it is not worth it.  Cutting the cable (tv) and using only internet is something you can quite easily do these days. I have not had cable tv for almost 5 years now and don't miss it at all.  I do subscribe to certain internet/tv services like Slingtv.com. $20/month gives me ESPN, AMC, HGTV, Food Network and many more..all of which I actually watch so that is good for me. They also have add on services like additional sports channels (College Football/Basketball-European Football) for like $5 per month.Best of all, SlingTV is now giving great deals on Roku boxes with their subscription so you really can't go wrong.

So in a nutshell there are many ways you can either cut costs or redirect what you are spending to benefit your needs better. If you need more help, I'm always here so just ask!
