I recently found this to be the case with the "logitech download assistant" which continued to provide me with error "Failed to install". Of course Microsoft provides you with the "don't worry, we will continue to try this at a later time"... THANKS BUT NO THANKS!
The normal method of just going to the windows updates and de-selecting or 'hiding' the update isn't something that easy to do with Windows 10 so off I go doing a quick search only to find there is an easy fix after all but it meant installing this file which I found from windoscentral.com website here.
With this program/patch, you have two choices presented to you: Hide Updates or Show Hidden Updates. The website has pretty pictures in case you get confused which is easy to do since most things dealing with computers is doublespeak or backwards speak. You know, where they as you if you want to do something and give you two choices and then once you select your choice and click ok, it asks you, are you sure? Only to confuse you and make you wonder if you chose the right option.
If you are already a client of mine then I don't expect you to ever use this tool, since hiding legitimate updates could lead to serious consequences but if you do have an on going error, just let me know and I will take care of it for you.
