Barbie vs Oppenheimer Your No Agenda Show rarely does movie reviews, but in the middle of a actors/writer's strike, a war in Ukraine, a Presidential battle, economic uncertainty and a biblical heat wave, the public needs some relief and movies have provided it in the past. And these two movies might have to be successful to save the entertainment system. From all accounts the predictions for success are good but the public may not be in the mood for either movie. If you read the review of Barbie here, this is a lame-brain possible career killer that could go down in history as an ill-advised turd of a film. Whatever the case Mattel actually thinks it's going to be so big that it plans endless sequels with co-productions deals. Then there is Oppenheimer, whose story of anguish has been told over and over and over to anyone over 40 who'd listen. Not good enough! So let's take a top Hollywood team and dramatize it to really beat up the public about the fact that, at the core, we are all a-holes. What other point can be made? Already other Hollywood directors are saying that Oppenheimer is the most important movie of the 21st Century. Well, nobody is saying that about Barbie. Something feels wrong about both movies. |
