No Agenda News 1721

It's now ridiculous.
Dear Producer,

AS you approach Christmas and Hanukah (which begins on Christmas day this year) think of giving to the No Agenda Show. It keeps you way ahead of the curve in every way.

You should consider becoming the EP (Executive Producer) for No Agenda Show 1721. This is a good moment as there is a distinct Sunday lull. It's a good time to get some attentionClick here for that.

The random do-it-yourself donation remains the most popular. Perhaps you want to celebrate tomorrow's show commemorates the day a Dutch patent was given in 1593 to windmills that utilized a crankshaft. That is as good a reason as any to donate. Generally this donation is the classic value-for-value contribution where you decide what the show is worth to you. To contribute click here to use PayPal or click here to use Stripe as your credit card processor.. Every dime helps the show.

Show your Holiday spirit and think of your No Agenda Show.

ALSO Sending a check to PO Box 339, El Cerrito CA 94530 is ANOTHER way to contribute. There are various systems that will send checks for you too. Learn about these systems by clicking here. Non USA checks written in foreign currency are accepted.

The Show is healthier with sustaining donations known as subscriptions. Here are a few to choose from.
The favorite is the lucky $33.33 a month.
It has superseded the once popular $11.11 month. More lucky numbers click here.
Most recently the show offered the $4 a week or 75-cents an hour subscription which has become very popular. Click here for that.
There is also the $50 a month Knighthood layaway for 20 months. Click here for that.
And, of course, there is the do-it yourself open donation which is always welcome.

Tomorrow's Show

The never-ending idiocy of the Jersey drones continues with the US government and other authorities literally lying about them, pretending to know nothing and acting helpless to do anything about them. While your No Agenda show had a good analysis last show the continuance of this tale of woe has become ridiculous.

As a distraction of the week the drone story does hide the fact that Biden has, out-of-the-blue, decided to pardon every criminal in the world who scammed millions of taxpayer dollars. This include white collar scammers and government officials. This is not what the pardon is for. At the same time the administration is selling off the border wall construction material at pennies on the dollar to prevent Trump from using it to finish the border wall. Again, the taxpayers take it in the shorts. This is all very damaging to the Democrat party. It's quite amazing.

The Blue Book Chronicles

On the last show John asked about the use of so-called Blue Books for testing within the college environment. Numerous current students at the big schools chimed in.

Blue Book testing does still exist and the Blue Books are seen in the bookstores costing about a dollar each. But our contact at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) added some interesting context regarding the computerization of studies and learning. His briefing about the software called Canvas LMS (learning Management System) is important to understand.

"Canvas is made by a company called Instructure (recently bought by KKR). It replaced an older system called Blackboard around 2014. It's entirely web based and extensible. We use it with plugins for Zoom, Panopto (lecture recording) and Poll Everywhere. Each class in the School of Arts and Sciences automatically gets a Canvas site at the beginning of each semester. I'm not sure what the other schools do. All students have a university ID which provides access to electronic resources. In eaCanvas site, students can access class materials, calendar, quizzes/tests, message boards and class recordings. Through the Zoom plugin, lectures can be recorded even scheduled to begin automatically. Canvas can handle attendance with Poll Everywhere. It uses geofencing and will only accept student check-ins from inside the building. Most classes I have taken don't take attendance or just have the TA's (teaching assistant) do it visually. Canvas really cemented during COVID. It was the only thing that allowed classes to go fully remote, along with Panopto and Zoom. It has been a while since I have had to buy a book. Class materials are scanned and uploaded to Canvas. Some TA's scan better than others. I have taken courses with professors that do not permit any technology in the class. Everyone is using pen and paper for notes, unless the student has an ADA exception. Math classes don't use much technology. They still rely on the chalkboard. Blue books are still in use at Penn, but your mileage may vary.”
