TIP-Using Google Search within Vista

If you would like to have Google as your default search within your Vista operating system, here is what you need to do:

The Search tool in Vista can do much more than just search your computer for folder, files and programs. If you frequently use Google, you can configure the Search tool in Vista to search Google. You can then search the Internet for your favorite Web pages right from your Start Menu.

To search Google from your Start Menu:

  1. Open the Group Policy Editor.
  2. Navigate to User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / instant Search.
  3. In the details panel, right click Custom Instant Search Internet Search Provider and click Properties.
  4. Click Enabled.
  5. Type Search Google in the first String or dll resource.
  6. In the String or dll resource field, type Search Google.
