Don Lemon "Hissy-Fit"

Groundhog Day Scourge
Dear Producer,

Donations are a little thin today and you are asked to pick up the slack, chip in, keep the show going with support. Using your credit card you can contribute any amount whatsoever – whatever the show is worth to you. This is called value for value. The show provides a lot of new information to a lot of you and it has no annoying commercials. You are not being sold gold, or pillows, or a mattress in a box or some pain remedy. You get a raw show with no frills. Click here and personally help.

You can also pick up a lifetime credit as an Executive Producer for show 1527. Any donation over $300 gets you this credit (as above), but the lucky EP donation is $333.33 and you can click here for that.

Note, discussions are underway regarding the inflationary changes to the various levels of achievement via the donations. Avoid the rush, donate now.

Tomorrow's Show

There is something highly amusing about what's going on at CNN with wonder boy Don Lemon who seems to be under a lot of pressure and is reportedly screaming at everyone. What's weird is that Megyn Kelly, who has never worked for CNN, seems to be making the biggest fuss about this saying he should be fired. This is one of those media situations where lemon was set up to fail working mornings as a co-host with two females. He's definitely being pressured to quit in a huff. That would normally be the end of him, but you can be sure he'll become a podcaster.

Everyone knew this would happen.
Death of a Groundhog

On the last show, which was on Groundhog day, it was pointed out that Canada has it's own Groundhog Day and the various provinces each have their own noteworthy groundhog. The USA kind of settled on the one ground hog in Pennsylvania, Punxsutawney Phil, after a few failed attempts in other states to get traction for a different groundhog.

In Canada there are a slew of these predictive animals. which in many cases are not animals at all. For example, Manitoba Mel seems to be a stuffed groundhog that someone puts outside for the prediction. Okanagan (BC) “Okie” is actually a dorky-looking hand puppet.

Alberta has Balzac Billy and Ontario has Whiarton Willie which traditionally seems to be an albino making replacement difficult, Willie seems to have died a lot.

This past groundhog day, Quebec's Fred LeMarmotte died the day before, apparently during hibernation. That cause quite the stir. “He's dead, Jim!”

Then there is the dual threat from Nova Scotia where they have a groundhog named Sam and a lobster named Lucy that provides a second opinion. Lucy comes out of some hideaway, or not, and that predicts the weather.

Insofar as the shadows cast around Canada, half the groundhogs saw a shadow and half didn't. So who knows what is up? Read a good breakdown of all this and its origins here. And, yes, it does have roots in Europe.

They claim that groundhogs in BC hibernate until March and they have to use this hand puppet instead. Say hello to Okanagan Okie.
