Happy Valentine's Day

Superbowl Advertising Insanity
Dear Producer,

Tomorrow’s show falls on Superbowl Sunday. The game is right after the show. Hopefully people will not tune in to the endless TV blather that precedes the game, and instead listen to the predictions and other news deconstructions of the No Agenda Show.

Tomorrow is also the Valentine’s Day Show with the open Valentine call outs for the one you love the most. Hopefully more than one person will take part in this tribute. Based on the date it amounts To $214.23. Click here for that.

Of course you can do you own thing as you should normally with a do-it-yourself donation.  Click hereThis is the classic value-for-value contribution pioneered by the show as a way to avoid entanglement with the corrupting influences of any advertising.

And then you have the great Executive Producer standard donation of $333.33. It gives you the title of EP for show 1529 which is a lifetime credit you can enjoy foreverClick here for that.

Tomorrow's Show

Biden has hit the road to begin his campaign to be re-elected President in 2024. This will be different for him since he won the first time by campaigning from his basement in various ways. You will hear a lot of how there are now more people working than ever and the economy is great.

No mention of the border crises or the homeless and crime problems in urban areas. And there is no inflation either. But you’ll hear a lot about dignity, the middle class, bottom up and middle out economics (whatever that is), Republicans (one guy) trying to take away your social security (he’s not), and on and on. This gives the show more and more loony Biden clips for everyone to enjoy.

Superbowl Advertising Mania

While the Superbowl is usually an anti-climactic game that may be borderline boring, it got a reputation for advertising creativity during the dot com era in the late 1990’s. During that era money was flowing and this seemed like a good way to spend it.

In recent years these ads which run throughout the game have been mundane if not crummy. This year there is a noticeable push by various specials hosted by excitable celebrities all jacked up over previous Superbowl commercials going to back to the two notable Apple ads and the “Mean Joe” Green Coke ad.

These shows are done to assuage the dopey advertisers who think focusing 7 million dollars on an advertisement (amongst a slew of other ads costing a lot to produce on top of the fee) is a good idea.

The dotcom era ads ran around 2 million a pop, but in the mid 1980’s when Apple did its famous 1984 ad and the “Lemmings” ad they ran around $550,000. At the time people swooned over how expensive these ads were.

Now $7 million? It’s a farce, but good luck to the advertisers who will be judged by these ads. “They paid $7 million to air that ad? What idiots!”

The ad itself can now have a negative effect on reputations too. Why take a chance? Stop this madness.

Internet Scam? Or Reality?

Meanwhile, this will be the year that gambling interests begin to dominate the attention of the bored sports junkie. And the deep seated fear that everything is rigged (like the stock market, the World Cup, Eurovision Song contest, etc.) never ends and sure isn’t helped by this image floating around the net. There are people out there with a madness for hoaxes and this better be one of them. Meanwhile, place your bets.
