You are not alone my friend! I have a few clients that are getting these messages and as I have found on, so far, two of the three I have looked at, the message was actually what I would consider a small trojan horse virus and nothing to do with Microsoft at all, however it does appear there are many issues as reported as many as 20% of these failures not caused by pirated keys, (but from some other form of spyware) in most cases.
There are many 'fixes' for such spyware issues and many 'tweaks' that can be done to make your computer perform better, all of which can be found through my TIPS page and from the SOFTWARE/SUPPORT page that has many tools for free download.
